DC Raw Count Map (Description)

Note: the District of Columbia is considered a district and a state.

This map illustrates the LEP of the District of Columbia with a pie chart of the LEP.

District of Columbia-Pale Orange Shading

The district is color shaded to indicate the total number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the district. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years and over who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW). For the LEP in the district, we have provided a pie chart that breaks down the top five languages spoken in the district (according to the total number of each language spoken) with the remaining languages in a sixth category called “All Other Languages”.

Raw Counts:

The colors correspond to the total number of LEP individuals in the district as follows:

·        Pale White: (<=1K)

·        Light Yellow: (>1K AND <=10K)

·        Pale Orange: (>10K AND <=50K)

·        Orange: (>50K AND <=100K)

·        Dark Orange: (>100K AND <=250K)

·        Brown: (>250K AND <=750K)

·        Dark Brown: (>750K)
