AR Raw Count Map (Description)

This map illustrates the LEP counties of Arkansas with pie charts of the top five LEP counties:

Benton County-Pale Orange Shading

Pulaski County-Pale Orange Shading

Sebastian County-Light Yellow Shading

Sevier County-Light Yellow Shading

Washington County-Pale Orange Shading

Each county is color shaded to indicate the total number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the county. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years and over who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW). For each of the top five LEP counties, we have provided a pie chart that breaks down the top five languages spoken in the county (according to the total number of each language spoken) with the remaining languages in a sixth category called “All Other Languages”.

Raw Counts:

The colors correspond to the total number of LEP individuals in the county as follows:

·        Pale White: (<=1K)

·        Light Yellow: (>1K AND <=10K)

·        Pale Orange: (>10K AND <=50K)

·        Orange: (>50K AND <=100K)

·        Dark Orange: (>100K AND <= 250K)

·        Brown: (>250K AND <=750K)

·        Dark Brown: (>750K)

The counties in Arkansas are shaded to indicate the number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the county. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years or older who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW). The tables explain the raw count number and percentage of LEP persons by language spoken for Arkansas’s top five counties.
