MD Raw Count Map (Description)Note: The State of Maryland contains both counties and independent cities each acting as an independent statistical area. This map illustrates the LEP statistical areas of Maryland with pie charts of the top five LEP statistical areas. City of Baltimore-Pale Orange Shading Baltimore County-Pale Orange Shading Howard County-Pale Orange Shading Montgomery County-Dark Orange Shading Prince George’s County-Orange Shading Each statistical area is color shaded to indicate the total number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the statistical area. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years and over who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW). For each of the top five LEP statistical areas, we have provided a pie chart that breaks down the top five languages spoken in the statistical area (according to the total number of each language spoken) with the remaining languages in a sixth category called “All Other Languages”.
